When people think of meeting clients, their mind automatically thinks of office space. While many meetings are conducted in traditional offices, that does not always have to be the case and meeting clients in coffee shops are perfectly acceptable as well. In today’s world, there are so many different types of businesses and schedules and an office building is no longer the only place where professionals can meet.
If you’re not sure which option is more suitable, it’s best to consider the type of business that you have and to base your decision on that aspect. Where you meet will convey a certain image, so depending on what stage of your business you’re in and what you’d like to accomplish, one option may be better than the other. For example, if you plan on delivering an important presentation, an office space would be more suitable as your clients can focus and there will be fewer distractions that can interfere with your delivery.
A coffee shop has more of a relaxed feel to it so if the meeting is casual and the presence of others chatting around you will not be a problem this would be a suitable place to meet clients. This setting is not as serious as an office and coffee shops can feel less intimidating than a large office space although again, this would all depend on the type of business you have and the information that has to be presented or discussed during the meeting.
Certain businesses need a specific type of setup to be able to present their material successfully and a coffee shop may not be able to provide it. These types of meetings must be done in offices that are specifically designed for these gatherings where managers, business owners and potential clients can meet. Office space will also allow you to conduct business and discuss sensitive matters that you may not want to do in a public setting, so once again, it really comes down to the type of business you have and what you’re hoping to accomplish from the meeting.
Consider the client as well because they may feel more comfortable in a certain setting and the meeting can be more productive depending on the environment you choose. For example, if your meeting is casual and serious topics will not be discussed you don’t need to force your client to dress up and come to a high rise building if a coffee shop will do. So long as the setting is relative to your business and brand, you will be able to conduct your meeting successfully.
